Windigo made an excellent comment in his last post about Otaku’s having some serious dance skills. However weather you’re an Otaku, Nerd, or Geek that happens to be an amazing dancer or not, that doesn’t mean you’re are using it to your advantage.
I can’t count how many times I have gone with a group of friends to the club only to see some of them line up on the wall with their drinks and watch everyone have a good time. You have got to put yourself out there, talk up women at the bar, or get out there and show off and the dance floor.If you’re a good dancer don’t settle for the dance circle or dancing with your friends, grab a girl and show her what you got! If you’re not a good dancer, hit the bar and become the life the party.
Skills you will need to work on:
- Learn about what drinks to order for women, I recommend Sex on the Beach
- Learn how to dance, learn a little hip hop, but learn to salsa and learn at least 3 flashy moves
- Starting a conversation at the bar
- How to do a shot
- How to chug a beer
Remember that confidence is one of the most attractive qualities a person can have.You can eliminate your fear and anxiety by becoming better at dancing, and by getting used to talking to strangers. Watch videos on Youtube or MTV or take classes to become a better dancer. Practice talking to strangers at every opportunity, your goal is to get used to approaching people, after that work on having something interesting to say.
Tip: When you get to the club, make friends with the staff, especially the DJ, looking like you belong, and like you’re important will make people take you seriously. Also this sometimes leads to perks like free drinks, shout outs and your songs being played.
Be an Attention Whore!
You also need to remember that to some extent clubbing is all about getting as much attention as possible from as many people as possible. Don’t feel intimidated. If you want some quick fast attention try chugging a beer! Someone will start cheering you on the minute you do. Once you have people’s attention don’t let it go, throw down some moves.
Most People Can’t Dance!
If you have been to a club you must have realized an interesting truth by now, most of the people there CAN’T DANCE! If you learn the least interesting basic dance moves you will be able to out dance more than half the people there. Once women see that they are more likely to dance with you.
The secret to dancing (grinding) on a girl:
I’m going to share with you a technique that most are completely unaware of. Most of you have gone out and seen a girl for whatever reason throwing herself up against some rhythmically challenged guy who has no idea what do with what he’s been given. Here is a technique that will help you not be that guy…
When a girl backs up against you instead of standing tall and stiff, spread your legs apart a bit and bend you knees (not quite like you’re going to lift something but close) relax your hips completely and follow her until you have her rhythm, this should put you in sync. Don’t worry about what the music is doing, concentrate on her hips, use your hands to help you, if you want you can use your hands to actually start controlling the rhythm and movement of her hips as well as the pace.
If you want to show off and start trying to really excite her, while grinding take her hands and put them above her head, eventually bring them down around your neck. If she tries to go down low (drop it like its hot lol) just don’t try to get lower move your legs a little further apart putting one foot back a bit for better balance and just bend your knees more.
Before you know it all eyes will be on you and most girl will definitely want to dance with you and won’t think you the least bit timid with your risque dance moves! Remember just because you’re a nerd doesn’t mean you cant be…“The Baddest Nerd on the Planet!”
Drinking at the Bar
First of all you need to be able to handle your alcohol, nothing is less attractive than a drunken slob. Be smooth about it. Make a point of getting a spot at the bar and put yourself in a position to get a girl in who is waiting to order a drink, even get the bar tender to take her order right away, this will show her not only that you can be a gentlemen but that you can take charge, women love that.
Rather than ask if you can buy her a drink which sounds like a pickup and gives her a chance to refuse, just pay for it before she has a chance to refuse, now talking to you is no longer an option (without being rude or stuck up). Start out by finding out how often she comes here, find out if she comes to dance, drink or for the music and let that help guide the conversation.
When talking about yourself don’t exaggerate but spin everything in the most positive way, if you want to exaggerate completely blow things out of proportion and joke about it. Being funny is very attractive.
And most importantly, just be yourself and have fun!
All great points but I’d like to add some info on to that also about the approach on the dance floor. DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT come up behind a girl and expect to dance close, or at all for that matter. Alot of girl hate that and it typically will result in you getting a very nasty look. When trying to dance with a girl approach from her front or from a corner side over the shoulder. You want her to be able to see you first. Also with that you could be able to read weather or not she is even willing to dance with you. I prefer the side over the shoulder, close but not touching. Then maybe playfully copy what she is doing. Remember you wanna dance with her you have to make yourself worthy of such an honer, and showing your ability to keep up could be just that.
Lastly and this is BIG! Just because a girl dances with you doesn’t mean she is fully interested in you. Don’t take dancing as the end all of pick up. It could be nothing more then she thought you were worth dancing with and THATS IT! If you find she keeps coming back, and is only dancing with you it may be a good time to take a break, isolate your target, and have a good conversation to see what the deal may/may not be.
